When it’s Not Time to Potty Train
September 1st, 2009 by admin
Some parents are in a hurry to potty train their children but there are some times when it is not appropriate to attempt it. Your child may simply not be ready. They may not be aware of their body’s messages, it’s not worth it to push it. If big changes are happening in the family like a move or the arrival of a sibling, or a new babysitter wait a while until things settle down. Don’t try to potty train during a vacation. Not being at home can make it difficult for your child to relax and feel comfortable and when on vacation things are usually inconsistent. If your child is sick focus on them getting better. They are not going to want to focus on whether they need to use the potty when they are not feeling well. Your child will eventually get to the point where they are ready for training, take advantage when the time comes.
