Understanding Tantrums

When your child throws a tantrum over something that you have said no to, it is helpful to understand what is going on. A young child will react when they cannot have something they want and if you often give in to that demand to avoid a scene you will see that reaction escalate until you do give in. The solution? When you say no, mean it and do not be affected by a temper tantrum. If you stick to your guns, you will find the behavior will stop because the child learns that you will not change your mind.
