Should You Push Your Children?

Your child wants to play piano so you sign him up for lessons and after a while he tells you he hates it. He tells you it’s too hard and he wants to quit. How do you handle this? of course you want your child to experience new things and to stick with the activities that they choose, but you don’t want to push them into something that they really don’t want to do either. Talk to him and see what the issue really is, maybe the teacher isn’t a good fit, or maybe the method being taught doesn’t work for him. Try and create an agreement that will work for you both. Since you are paying for lesson ask that he agree to a particular amount of time and that you will join him when he needs to practice. if down the road before the agreement is up and he wants to quit, remind him that you agreed to this arrangement and after it is fulfilled he can stop the lessons.
