Focus on Better Behavior

It’s important to teach children that they need to do their part for the good of the household, that not everything will be taken care of for them. When they are grown and move out of the house they will have the skills they need to take care of themselves. Should they be paid to do the household chores? Yes and no. There is a good way to reward them for helping out, but to do so in a way that does not have them think they can do something just to get some money out of it. Try a set amount of money per week that’s given to them for household chores, but make sure they do their regular jobs, like cleaning up their room, dishes or emptying the garbage. Make them understand that everyone has to do their part to keep up the house.
