How You Can Help Your Child With Addiction

Many parents that have children that have an addiction problem believe it’s because of the type of parent they are. Poor parenting can contribute to the possibility of addiction but good parenting does not indeed prevent it entirely. The best thing that you can do is figure out what you may be doing to enable the addiction and what you can to do help them and yourself deal with it. Many parents don’t see or refuse to see that their child is suffering from any sort of problem. Children can hide these things fairly well. Studies have shown that 4% of parents with children ages 9-11 believe their child has used drugs and about 25% of these children have admitted to taking drugs. Parents need to be more involved with their children to know what they are up to in a non-invasive way. The more interest you show in your child, the more they are willing to talk to you and trust you.
