You be asking "what is the difference between these two?" Night terrors happen most between the ages of 3 and 12 and has usually resolved by the time the teenagers years hit. They usually happen in the first 2-3 hours of sleep. Children usually don’t respond to attempts to comfort them and usually don’t remember having them. Nightmares are not as dramatic and usually happen later in the sleep cycle. Your child may wake up scared but normally responds to our reassurance that she is safe. Children will often remember some or all of the nightmare. Talking to your child calmly and holding them as they calm down can help them go back to sleep. Make sure they are getting enough sleep as it can be a cause of night terrors along with stress and some medications.
